Southern California’s own Seth Brown turned $250 into $46,870 at the Ocean’s 11 Casino in Oceanside last month.

Brown managed to win the 2018 Card Player Poker Tour Ocean’s 11 San Diego Classic title on July 29, taking home the top prize of almost $50,000 for his efforts.

It was the seventh time the $250 buy-in Card Player Poker Tour Ocean’s 11 San Diego Classic had run at the Oceanside card room. However, this was by far the biggest one of the bunch.

The event drew 859 entries over its six starting flights July 26-28. Plus, another 79 players bought in directly to Day 2 for $1,500, making for a record total of 938 entries.

All told, the top 133 finishers split up a $264,900 prize pool.

Can’t beat Brown

Last year’s champion Barry Seidman made it all the way to fourth place, cashing for $16,150. However, no one could knock out Brown on this day. The clubhouse leader after the six starting flights, Veronica Daly exited in third place, earning $21,385.

Plus, Brown beat Aaron Magers heads-up to win the title. Magers had to settle for $30,090 in second place money.

Brown now sits second on a list of past Card Player Poker Tour Ocean’s 11 San Diego Classic champions according to earnings. The list also includes:

  • Shawn Busse – April 2017 – $48,910
  • Barry Seidman – July 2017 – $38,873
