Poker Night In America is coming to California to produce a new live “celebrity” version of its popular cash game poker TV series.

Poker Night LIVE will be shot on location from the renovated Gardens Casino cardroom in Hawaiian Gardens, just south of Hollywood. Starting March 20, it will air every Tuesday night for 13 weeks at 10 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Rush Street Productions created the concept in response to the popularity of Poker Night In America live streams. Now, they plan to create a “celebrity-centric” version of the popular cash game show, all with the hope of introducing its brand of poker to a whole new audience.

“We’ve been re-imagining TV poker for the past four years, making it more fan friendly with famous faces and a fun atmosphere,” said Rush Street President Todd Anderson in a press release. “This is the latest exciting step as we continue to revolutionize how fans can watch poker. Anything can happen on live TV and probably will with a table filled with celebrities.”

A celebrity poker show

Producers plan to invite a number of Hollywood celebrities and popular poker personalities to play. It will be a low-stakes game allowing celebrities to have fun and let loose, without worrying about making mistakes.

Poker legend and 14-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth has signed on for the first show. Poker Night In America commentator and funny man Joe Stapleton will act as a host of sorts. Stapleton will play in the games in an effort to keep the conversation flowing.

Poker Night LIVE Executive Producer Jonnie Kedj said Stapleton will be the perfect host for this new and innovative poker show format. Kedj is known for his work on poker shows, including Celebrity Poker Showdown, the World Poker Tour, and PokerStars Big Game.

“Stapes is a huge talent, and a blast to play poker with,” Kedj said. “With his comedic skills and vast experience at calling some of the most iconic poker hands of all time, we can’t wait to watch him mix it up with celebs on live TV.”

The show has been airing on CBS Sports since June 2014. Fans will be able to win a seat at Poker Night LIVE. They can do this playing on the Poker Night In America online poker mobile app. The mobile app offers strictly free-to-play online poker games.

Gardens Casino started as the Hawaiian Gardens card club almost 20 years ago. It opened up inside a 60,000-square-foot tent in Los Angeles County.

It now features 225 gaming tables, a restaurant, bar, VIP lounge, and two multi-use halls inside a 200,000-square-foot building. In 2016, the property underwent a $90 million renovation.
